A
professed social activist in her younger years who's had her share of teargas inhalation in the various streets in Manila, the capital of the Philippines, Jan received her epiphany early on while taking part in one of the many student protest activities while a Marketing Communications student at the University of the Philippines - that the real battleground in the future will no longer be in the streets or in the boondocks. But rather the battle will be fought in the boardrooms where a real social activist will need to present to technocrats and industry movers and shakers using a business and technical presentation module, rather than holding a megaphone or waiving a placard, the most relevant social issue or development program and convince the audience that they have the power to magically address these social issues and become social investors and social capitalists with a wave of their Montblanc pens if they only put their hearts to it.

On her path towards achieving her professional goals, she never abandoned her "windmills chasing" activities by ensuring that in every commercial endeavor, she makes sure that somehow it will have a social impact to a certain level on some groups and individuals. If this does not make her a certified "WhyNUT" then, she needs to step up!

Jan has 20 years of combined experience in brand management, advertising, interactive & digital marketing, consumer & market research, project development & management & public relations. She was featured by Entrepreneur Magazine (Philippine Edition, April 2002) as one of the 35 Hottest Entrepreneurs Under 35 Years Old when she was only 32, Jan has always been and continuous to be more fascinated with the social business enterprise model-- whereby earning profits for one's company means ensuring also that many more other people benefit from the whole endeavor. Afterall, she believes that true success in life is not measured by how much money one makes, but how much of a difference one makes in the lives of others. Thus, aside from being Managing Director and Chief Creative Officer of a brand activation and interactive marketing communications company, One Asia Touchpoint, Inc, Jan also channels her marketing communications expertise in the area of social development and cause marketing as co-founder and Senior Consultant of impact Solutions Research Institute.

A teacher by nature, she is a firm believer that education is the equalizer of all men and one's ticket out of poverty. Jan is now taking post-graduate studies in education specializing in Information Technology Integration at the Ateneo de Manila University, to understand better how she can be instrumental in giving the gift of learning to those who feel hopeless about ever receiving it. Very fresh from a very successful presidential campaign, this WhyNUT believes that if she thinks IT, it CAN BE - with enough hardwork and God's grace, then IT WILL BE.

She is currently with the Ninoy and Cory Aquino Foundation serving as the People Power People Program Director and was also recently conferred as the first ever in the world, Ambassador of Goodwill of the Jefferson Awards for Public Service and Volunteerism - an organization based in the United States that is considered the Nobel Prize in the public service and volunteerism.
